Digital Support

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a huge amount of work has been done to further improve our services and facilities to support remote working, including digital support. You can find out more about this on the DTS Remote Working webpages.

The University is committed to providing appropriate equipment for a colleague to perform their role on campus, and this increasingly will involve provision of suitable laptops and portable devices. This is part of the University’s longer term digital strategy and the Strategic Foundations Programme Ways of Working Pathway, and it will not happen all at once. This may influence your choices about whether you wish to work remotely in any way for the time being.

Where it is agreed under this framework that colleagues can work remotely for part of their working week then it is the employee’s responsibility to ensure a reliable and stable internet connection. You will be expected to carry laptops or other portable devices onto campus and to home as and when required. If you do not have portable University equipment, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have a suitable computer set-up at home. The University will not provide separate equipment for remote working, unless there are specific circumstances where it is appropriate to do so, such as where reasonable adjustments are required for disability or a long-term health condition.
