Project Department

The project management team handles a wide range of construction matters:

Major Projects: Capital and major maintenance-funded works, generally ranging from approximately £1m to £20m.

Small Works: Each year we handle between 400-500 individual projects ranging from minor alterations through to major office, laboratory and residential upgrades.

Communications Infrastructure: We deal with all data and telephone cabling matters throughout the University ranging from a single network port to major installations of WiFi hotspots, fibre optic cabling, and copper cables.

Strategic Project Development: Interfaces between the early stages of estates strategy and practical delivery of projects. We also co-ordinate campus master planning and produce feasibility studies. You can find out more about the University's Estates Strategy in this section.

Partners and contractors

We work closely with a range of external professional consultants and contractors. Our Partners and Contractors Section contains information about and for the partners we work with.

Stakeholders and Clients

We work closely with our Users and Project Sponsors who play a vital part in contributing to the success of a project. We recognise that for many Users and Sponsors the project process will be unfamiliar and to help them we have prepared a guidance document to help them understand the University’s capital project process and to explain what their role is within a project.
