Parking information for visitors
If you are visiting the University, please be aware that parking on campus is very limited. The University and Reading as a whole are well served by public transport so if possible, please consider travelling by rail, coach, or on foot or bicycle.
Car Park 1A
Car Park 1A is a Pay & Display car park for use by visitors. The cost is 拢2.00 per hour, or 拢12.50 for all day parking. You must display a valid ticket available from the ticket machines in the car park. The machines accept credit/debit cards for payment.
How to arrange parking - On Campus
If you are coming by car, you must ensure that your parking is prearranged. Please contact the member of staff or department you are visiting and ask them to arrange a visitor's parking permit.
Arranging parking for visitors
Staff members who wish to arrange parking for a visitor to the campus, please complete the online visitor parking booking form Please note this should be done at least 24 hours in advance of the required time. For more information on visitor parking please see Visitors Parking FAQs
Visitors can also use the P&D car park (1a & 1) 拢2.00 per hour, or 拢12.50 for all day parking.

Parking off site
If you decide to travel to the University and park off site, please ensure that you park legally and considerately and are aware of any parking restrictions.

- don't park in areas where there's limited space available for residents

- Cycling: We now have 4,239 cycle parking spaces on campus, 5 secure bicycle sheds on Whiteknights and secure storage at halls.
- Buses: The main bus routes from Whiteknights Campus are the Whiteknight 20 and Claret 21 which travel from Reading train station and town centre, past London Road campus and onto Whiteknights campus up to every 7-8 minutes (Mon to Fri, daytimes during semester time). - Trains: Reading train station is a mainline train station and is easily accessible from most other places in the UK. There are direct rail links from many major cities, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Bristol, and Exeter. Visit for information.
