Your future career

Once you graduate from the MSci (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy course, you can apply for professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. This allows you to work as a speech and language therapist. 

Our graduate employment rate is very high, and graduates are praised by local employers as critical, reflective practitioners.

100% of graduates from MSci Speech and Language Therapy are in work or further study within 15 months of the end of their course* 

Clinical placements give a breadth of experience to help you decide which area of speech and language therapy you wish to pursue when qualified. 

You can go on to work as a speech and language therapist in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, the community, schools, colleges or the prison service. 

Alternatively, you may decide to combine clinical practice and research with further postgraduate study.  

Speech and language therapy is an extremely rewarding career and, whatever path you choose, you will work closely with your patients, their families and carers. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team which may include physiotherapists, doctors, nurses or teachers.

Fees, funding and scholarships

Speech and Language Therapy students are entitled to an £5,000 annual support payment to help with living costs. All students are eligible, and you won’t have to pay it back after graduation. Find out more about the support payment on the .

There is a variety of other funding support available to our undergraduates. You may be eligible for government loans, grants or bursaries.

How you'll study your degree

Get hands-on experience in our Speech and Language Therapy Clinic from your first year. You'll also undertake placements across a range of settings and client groups.
