Teaching methods

On our MSc Psychology Conversion course, you’ll learn via lectures, seminars, and feedback sessions, and will undertake optional specialist modules. 

You will be taught by leading academics who combine research and theory to provide you with the skills needed for your future career. 

We provide a modern, wide, evidence-based introduction to psychology as a science. We cover the important sub-disciplines of psychology, including:

  • development in typical and atypical populations
  • neuroscience
  • research methods
  • cognition
  • social psychology
  • individual differences.

The course can be taken full time over 12 months, or part time over two years.

Tailored seminars

Our seminars and assessments are designed specifically for graduates from other disciplines. We also offer support sessions in statistics and employability skills for conversion students.

Independent research project

Devise and conduct an experiment for your MSc research project. You can choose from a range of topics and will be supervised by a member of academic staff.

Access our facilities

Access facilities that will aid your learning and provide you with a dedicated place to study. These include the master's common room, computer lab, in-house library, testing cubicles, research labs and observation resources.

Placements

Complement your postgraduate psychology studies through NHS-partnered clinics, professional training centres and research placements in neuroscience, developmental psychopathology and clinical research.

An optional Research Placement module is also available, giving you the opportunity to work in one of our world-class research laboratories.

Optional modules

Tailor your degree according to whether you’re interested in the fundamental science of the mind and brain or in clinical psychology.

Optional modules include:

  • Research Placement: giving you the chance to work in one of our world-class research laboratories 
  • Evidence-based Therapies: learn about interventions for psychological and neurological conditions from clinical experts in the field 
  • Language: make use of our excellent language school and learn a new language.
