We consider applicants with a broad range of skills and experience. 

Our students come to us from all over the world, many having already established successful careers in a variety of disciplines. Some of our students don't have a design background, but instead have demonstrated relevant professional experience that they are keen to apply to one of our programmes. 

We take the time to review every individual application. Find out more about what we're looking for when we assess your application to ensure you have the best chance of securing a place. 

1. Create a profile on the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼’s applicant portal

To apply for a place on one of our master's courses, you will need to submit an application directly to the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ via our . 

Follow the instructions for uploading scans of your previous qualifications and the details of two referees.

2. Upload supporting information

Please upload a CV in PDF form and a portfolio of your work in PDF form or via a link for us to download. 

Please also upload a personal statement that describes: 

  • how you developed your interest in the field
  • the master’s programme (and, if applicable, the pathway) you're applying to in the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication
  • your relevant experience
  • your goals.
     

We cannot review your application until your CV, personal statement and portfolio are uploaded.

3. What to include in your portfolio

You should include all relevant work in your portfolio. Please explain the context of the work, for example, whether a project is part of an assignment at a previous course, a professional project, or a self-initiated project. You should also describe how you approached the brief. 

If you're including collaborative projects, please explain what your contribution was.  

We're particularly interested in evidence of your work processes, like sketches and revisions. If you have written reports about your work or made presentations, please include these.  

Finally, we're also interested in any texts you have written independently of your design projects, either for assignments or publication.
