Our network

We have an international alumni network of over 1,000 former students from our undergraduate and master's programmes. Our graduates work across the whole design industry: at household names like Adobe and Oxford University Press, in boutique design agencies, and public sector organisations like the BBC. Many have also set up their own companies straight out of university.

Overall, 97% of graduates from Typography and Graphic Communication are in work or further study within 15 months of graduation (Based on our analysis of HESA data © HESA 2022, Graduate Outcomes Survey 2019/20; includes all Typography and Graphic Communication responders)*

Students: benefit from our close-knit alumni network

Our students benefit from valuable opportunities to make connections, open doors, and progress their careers thanks to the continued involvement of our former students, who have gone on to become successful design professionals in a range of fields.

Alumni regularly come back to give inspiring talks, feed back on portfolios and even recruit final-year students for jobs when they graduate.

Graduates: reconnect with us

After our students complete their studies, we encourage them to stay in touch with the Department. We can offer support as they progress in their careers. Many of our alumni also make a valuable contribution to the success of our current students. Graduates can join , follow us on and , or email us at typography@reading.ac.uk.

Come to our events

Our alumni are welcome to return to the Department to attend degree shows, exhibitions and one-off events. Events like these are an ideal opportunity to reconnect with staff, fellow students and graduates. We promote upcoming events on our Twitter account, .

Former students can also come back to visit our collections.

Inspire tomorrow's designers

We welcome alumni to return to the Department and share their industry experience with our current cohorts, for example at our termly alumni talks, or by giving career and portfolio advice during a visit.

Our students benefit greatly from hearing how graduates ahead of them have mapped out their careers.

Discover new design talent

Every year, graduates from previous years return to recruit new designers from the graduating class.

Coming back into the Department to meet our current students gives design professionals a chance to find exciting new talent for their companies.

The broad range of experience students get at Reading, and exposure to real jobs, is well suited to the work we do at Addison Group and equips graduates to start their careers with an open mind and the right skills, attitude and motivation to get to grips with the working environment.
