Our PhDs

The School of Pharmacy has a long and established track record of research, working with a wide variety of industrial and academic partners to achieve significant social and economic benefits.

We use the Chemical Analysis Facility and the Hopkins labs at the University to carry out our research, and offer external opportunities through our collaborations with Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, Oxford University Hospitals Trust, and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Our excellence in research

97% of our research is of international standing (Research Excellence Framework 2021, combining 4*, 3* and 2* submissions – Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy). Research activity within the Department is broad and extensive and covers the areas of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice.

A collaborative environment

We have active collaborations with other departments within the University, for example the Brain Embodiment Laboratory (BEL), the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN) and the Institute for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research (ICMR), as well as with external institutions.
Luckily, I had help from a lot of students and staff from other research areas. Looking back, I learned a lot in that time. The key was to stay focused on what I wanted to achieve and to work towards it.

I am absolutely delighted to receive this recognition. I am grateful to my current and former PhD students, who nominated me for this award. Throughout my academic career I was very fortunate to supervise many excellent PhD students and I am always happy to stay in touch with them for many years after their graduation and offer mentorship and support.
