Advanced clinical practice (ACP) is a defined level of practice within clinical professions designed to transform and modernise pathways of care, enabling the safe and effective sharing of skills across traditional professional boundaries.

The role is underpinned by a multi-professional framework to ensure consistency across England. There is more information on Advanced Clinical Practice on the Health Education England website.

Modules

To be eligible for this award, over two years students will study modules in Advanced History Taking and Clinical Assessment, Diagnostic Reasoning, Independent/Supplementary Prescribing and Transition to Advanced Clinical Practice.

Applicants who are already prescribers will usually study work-based learning modules to contextualise their existing experience to Advanced Clinical Practice. Students will then continue onto their third year to study the Research Skills and Research Project modules to be awarded the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

Alongside your studies you will also build an ACP professional portfolio of your workplace-based studies with your co-ordinating education supervisor.
