Equipping you with professional skills and experience

Our graduates are highly employable in the growing market for environmental managers and consultants. To prepare you to meet this demand, we:

  • create extensive opportunities for you to network with potential employers
  • design coursework assignments to reflect the outputs of industry, ensuring that you have the opportunities to develop the necessary skills for your future career
  • provide in-service training if you’re already working within the profession.

Expert lecturers

You'll be taught by lecturers with expertise across a broad range of areas, including:

  • contaminated land
  • air pollution
  • environmental economics
  • environmental law
  • ecosystem service
  • project management.

They have extensive experience in both academic and industrial applications, and will show you how to develop and apply your skills.

Many of our academics are well-known within the scientific world. For example, Professor Chris Collins' research into the bioavailability and bioaccessability of environmental pollutants has been recognised by appointments to two Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) committees that advise the UK government on the environmental chemistry of hazardous substances and veterinary products.

Professor Hannah Cloke's research on flooding focuses on developing techniques to help us prepare better for flooding by improving forecasting. It saves lives through improving early warning systems in flood-prone parts of the world, and reduces the impact of flooding on businesses.
