My research addresses the overarching areas of energy use in buildings and indoor environmental quality. I have a specific interest in people and building interactions, which investigates how people effect the performance of buildings through their interactions with the building services and passive architectural elements and also how buildings affect the comfort, health and productivity of people inside buildings. The ultimate goal of my research is to achieve future buildings with high quality indoor environments with reduced energy consumption.
More widely, my research addresses digital tools for energy efficiency, overheating, retrofit of existing buildings, indoor air quality, low energy building design, building performance simulation, energy use in developing countries, and the gap between predicted and actual performance of buildings.
