When you study with us, you’ll become part of a globally-connected, supportive community of students and staff, along with talented alumni who work throughout the construction and built environment sectors.

The range of different viewpoints and experience that our students and staff bring is one of our primary strengths, and contributes to the collegiate environment in our School.

You'll make connections during your studies which can last throughout your career.

Life as an undergraduate

You'll have the full-time student experience on our undergraduate courses, which means you can fully immerse yourself in campus life.

As well as learning intensively in our teaching sessions, you'll have access to the School's dedicated facilities, and the University Library for independent study. You'll be able to socialise at the University's cafes and bars, and enjoy the parkland surroundings of Whiteknights campus.

How we support you

It's our priority to get to know you as an individual when you study with us.

We’ll help you grow your aspirations, as well as the key relationships that will benefit you throughout your future career – not just with our academics but with industry professionals in our international network.

You'll be allocated an academic tutor who will help guide you throughout your time at the University, offering advice and assistance whenever necessary.

98% of our students said teaching staff are good at explaining things (National Student Survey 2024, 97.75% of responders from the School of Construction Management and Engineering).

The University has a dedicated range of services available to you to support your personal and professional development during your studies.

Reading University Construction Society

The Reading University Construction Society (RUCS) is our social and cultural hub. It runs an exciting range of events where you’ll have opportunities to build professional relationships as well as friendships.

Leading employers and professional institutions attend many of the Society’s events to give talks and meet students, allowing you to increase your employability and knowledge as well as empowering you to build a personal network of contacts.

A number of industry leaders are corporate members of RUCS, including Turner & Townsend, Malcolm Hollis, and Alinea.

You'll also be invited to the Society's regular social events, which bring together students from all years and staff in an informal setting.

The School has been extremely helpful throughout my three years. If students are willing to go an extra mile, members of staff will always be there to help, no matter what.
