Our courses
The Department of Agri-Food Economics and Marketing is part of the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, which is made up of five academic departments. Our departments work collaboratively to deliver teaching and research across the School.
MSc Agricultural Economics
With an ever-increasing population and growing pressure on the world's finite resources, the analytical skills of agricultural economics are as relevant as ever.
This degree programme is designed to provide you with a rigorous, stimulating and enjoyable training in applied economics as well as qualitative and quantitative research techniques. You'll also have the option of specialising in agricultural development economics.
MSc Food Economics and Marketing
This programme focuses on how economic and marketing forces influence the decisions of producers, processors, retailers, consumers and policy makers along food supply chains, at a domestic and international level.
You'll receive training in applied economics, policy, marketing and research methods in the context of food.

MRes by Research Agricultural and Food Economics
This programme will prepare you for doctoral studies in agricultural and food economics and marketing. It provides rigorous training in research methods to prepare you for a career in academia or a research career in non-academic organisations.
You'll have the opportunity to learn, and then apply, the skills of applied economics and marketing to a diverse range of contemporary food, farm and rural issues in both developed and developing country contexts.
MSc Development Finance
Explore the key issues and challenges in the provision of finance for economic development in developing countries.
You'll cover analysis of financial markets in emerging economies, financial sector reform, and policies and institutions to promote financial inclusion.
MSc Consumer Behaviour
This degree is suitable for graduates from both business and non-business backgrounds, and is designed to transform you into a competent consumer-centred professional.
This Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) accredited course covers the latest consumer behaviour thinking, encourages problem solving through internal and external client lead projects, and facilitates active learning throughout your studies.
Master's funding
Scholarships are available for master's students enrolling in 2024, some offered directly by the University and others allocated by external funding bodies. In order to apply, a candidate must have received an offer of admission to one of our participating master's courses.
