The University is obliged to provide 16 traditional allotments and once delivered, are looking at a Community Growing Garden for adjacent land. This could include school allotment plots, an outdoor learning area, a nursery for woodland trees, and a community orchard.
Feedback about the Community Growing Garden, during a consultation in 2023, was very positive, and we are excited to develop these proposals further with the local community. We recognise that this space will need to be managed and maintained effectively by Shinfield Parish Council and this will be discussed when we meet with the Community Growing Garden volunteers.
