FORTIPHY

FORTIPHY STUDY

Evaluation of protein bioavailability, satiety and appetite responses to fortified dishes in older adults.

This research study will investigate the effect of protein on appetite and food intake in older adults.

What is the purpose of the study?

Preserving muscle mass and functioning is essential for maintaining functional independence in older adults. It is therefore recommended that older adults increase their protein intake to maintain muscle mass. This study will test variants of porridge that have been fortified with protein and help us create food solutions to improve nutritional status.

We are looking for volunteers

  • Aged ≥ 70 years.
  • BMI 18.5-30 kg/m2.
  • Regularly consume 3 meals a day and able to eat and drink without assistance.

You will be required to attend the Hugh Sinclair Unit of Human Nutrition at the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ for a short screening session.

You will then be asked to undertake three test days in a randomised order, when you will consume porridge samples. Each session will last 5 hours.
