Cardiometabolic health

We are internationally recognised for our research examining the role of diet and nutrition on cardiometabolic health and disease risk, with particular expertise in lipoprotein metabolism, insulin resistance, inflammation and vascular function.

We combine expertise in randomised human intervention studies together with state of the art non-invasive techniques to examine the physiological effects of dietary change on cardiometabolic risk markers, in combination with a range of cell culture approaches to investigate molecular mechanisms. Complex analysis of large population cohorts also provides insight into the role of genes on responsiveness to dietary modulation and disease risk.

“We take a multidisciplinary approach to understand mechanisms by which diet and nutrition modulate cardiometabolic health, with the ambition to develop optimal diets and novel foods for the prevention of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity-related diseases.”

Professor Julie Lovegrove

Collaboration

The cardiometabolic health group have been awarded considerable funding from research councils, charities and industry. We also have longstanding collaborations with experts based within the 澳门六合彩开奖记录 as well as nationally and internationally.

We are dedicated to improving public understanding of the role that diet plays in health and cardiometabolic disease prevention. As a commitment to this our members serve on a number of committees dedicated to nutrition professionalism, education and policy development.
