Our vibrant and diverse community of staff and students are enthusiastic about using their architectural talent and knowledge to make a positive difference in the world.

We foster a culture of creativity that includes drawing and making within the School.

You'll learn through a combination of taught courses, lectures, seminars and workshops, and further develop your professional and creative skills in a series of architectural design research units.

Design research units

Benefit from specialised design research units, based on collaboration between academic experts and practice-based tutors.

Develop expertise in a range of subjects related to our research area of "urban living", including place-making, urban regeneration, retrofit and building adaptation, community empowerment, mapping cities and places, and collaborative design.

Work experience

You'll have the opportunity to apply for a period of credit-bearing work experience during your studies. Our well-established links with both the architecture profession and the wider built environment sector will help you expand your professional skills and knowledge.

You may also have the opportunity to gain teaching experience, engaging with various teaching and learning styles of studio architecture with our undergraduate cohorts.

Our facilities

The heart of the School of Architecture is on our London Road campus in a redesigned and refitted character building, re-purposing an old library.

You'll have access to dedicated studio facilities available seven days-a-week.

You can also utilise other facilities within the School of Built Environment on our main Whiteknights campus, including digital environments.

Tools and workshops

Our students have priority access to a modelmaking workshop and dedicated technical support.

We offer workshops and activities in areas such as drawing and mapping in the field, model and architectural photography, casting in concrete and plaster, 3D printing, vacuum forming, laser cutting and digital cutting of thin materials.
