Working towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ has a long history of global development research and action, which started in the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development in the 1950s. Today we have a thriving community of researchers across the breadth of the institution who are working to tackle the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, conflict and justice.
Working with policymakers and practitioners in the UN, governments, NGOs and the private sector, our researchers are finding innovative solutions to address these issues and to help create a fairer, more sustainable future for people and the planet. Our Global Development research division and Walker Institute (on climate resilience) lead our work in this area, with researchers from all disciplines significantly contributing to our efforts and working in countries all around the world. Together these groups are supported by our Development Research Steering Group to evolve and deliver our institutional strategy for development research .
On this page you can read more about our research in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and find information about our strategy to develop our work in this area. For Reading researchers, there are links to information about how to apply for funding – from external sources or from our internally managed fund to promote new partnerships and innovative ways of working.
