Reading Toy Run sets off from Thames Valley Science Park
03 December 2024
The Reading Toy Run, an annual tradition that has been running since 1985, saw around 1,500 motorcyclists set off from the University-owned Thames Valley Science Park for the first time this year.
Many of the biker convoy were donning festive outfits while they delivered hundreds of toys and gifts to High Close School in Wokingham, in aid of children’s charity Barnardo’s.
The toy run is organised each year by Reading Christian Motorcyclists. When their usual start location became unavailable, the University was asked about using Thames Valley Science Park.
As is tradition, many hundreds of spectators turned out to watch the bikers as they travelled along the route, from the Thames Valley Science Park to Winnersh and then Wokingham.
Among the gifts were 60 items donated from tenants of the Science Park.
Molli Cleaver, Community Engagement Manager at the 澳门六合彩开奖记录, said: “We were delighted to support the Reading Toy Run this year and provide a new home for their start location.
“We know how much the annual event is loved by local residents and what a huge difference it makes to children at Christmas so there was no question about wanting to play a small part in helping our community.”
