Drug delivery professor wins pharma innovation award

A 澳门六合彩开奖记录 researcher whose work on new forms of drug delivery using sticky and slippery materials has won a prestigious award from the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Professor Vitaliy Khutoryanskiy from the 澳门六合彩开奖记录’s School of Pharmacy has been awarded the Innovative Science Award by the APS. The award, which also sees Professor Khutoryanskiy give a lecture to academics and industry professionals, recognises his work on new drug carriers for transmucosal delivery.
With an emphasis of drug delivery, Professor Khutoryanskiy’s major research achievements include the development of new classes of mucoadhesive and mucus-penetrating materials and formulations for ocular, nasal, gastrointestinal, vaginal, and intravesical drug delivery.
He also developed new methods to assess mucoadhesive properties and retention of various formulations on biological surfaces and established novel methods used for the synthesis of polymeric hydrogels.
Professor Vitaliy Khutoryanskiy, Professor of Formulation Science at the 澳门六合彩开奖记录’s School of Pharmacy said:
“It’s an honour to be awarded the accolade by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and to have the opportunity to talk to peers and professionals about the opportunities that targeted biomaterial drug delivery provides.
“Over the past 10 years there have been major advances in the understanding of transmucosal drug delivery. The advances in drug delivery will have an important role in the future of precision medicine, overcoming some of the enduring issues that conventional medicine has.”
Professor Khutoryanskiy will be speaking at the 13th APS PharmaSci International Conference in September 2022 held in Belfast.
