Sitting exams? Here's what you need to know!

If you are sitting exams in 2025 you need to read the document below.

It will tell you things like where to find the exam venues, what you should and shouldn't bring with you, rules about behaviour in exams, what to do if you're ill on the day, and so on.

Your personal timetable for Semester 1 January/February exams will be available on your student RISISweb portal no later than the end of week 12 of Semester 1. If you have any trouble viewing your timetable, you should contact the RISIS Office by emailing risis@reading.ac.uk and quoting your student number in any correspondence.

If there are any problems with your exam timetable, it is important that you tell the Examinations Office immediately by emailing examinations@reading.ac.uk.

Know the rules!

Every year, we catch students breaking the rules.

Ignorance is no excuse: if you are caught breaking the rules for whatever reason, it will be considered CHEATING and you will face academic misconduct procedures.

Mobile phones are a particular problem in exams. If you have one in your pocket during an exam - even if it is switched off - you will be breaking the rules and risk receiving a mark of zero for the exam. Please check your pockets before you sit down and leave it at the front of the room with the invigilator.
