The Disability Advisory Service (DAS) provides guidance to current students and applicants who register due to a disability, specific learning difference, long term medical or mental health condition.
The team can provide support for your disability or condition including a number of possible adjustments that could be discussed with a Disability Adviser.
If you think you might need support for teaching, exams or any other aspect of the academic year then you can register with DAS to talk to the team at any point in your academic year, but you should aim to have that conversation as soon as you can.
You will be prompted to register for semester 1 exam adjustments by 13 September 2024.

This year Welcome Week will take place from 23 - 27 September 2024.
Welcome Week offers new students the chance to explore Reading, learn about life on campus, make new friends and settle into your new home.
This is also a great time to explore extracurricular opportunities and what the societies will be offering throughout the academic year.
Many activities can contribute to your RED Award. Collect experience and volunteering hours in the community towards your accreditation.
The Welcome App will be available to download in September to help plan your schedule.
New students are encouraged to attend your School introduction sessions as a priority. Create a schedule of your preferred welcome activities in the app.
Returning students are also welcome to attend any intro sessions or welcome activities as a refresher.
Week 1 teaching will commence on 30 September 2024 for most students.

Postgraduate taught students will be prompted to make semester 1 and 2 module selections during Welcome Week.
Optional module selections can be changed up until the end of week 2 of the semester.
Institution-wide Language Programme (IWLP)
Students from every discipline and year, including postgraduates, are welcome to study our 20-credit language modules. Even if you don’t have the credits available to take one of our modules, there is still an option to take our modules non-credit for a small fee. Click the link for more information and how to apply.
All postgraduate taught students receive a personalised timetable.
Returning PGT students
Returning PGT students will receive their semester 1 timetable on 4 September 2024 and their semester 2 timetable on 11 December 2024.
New PGT students starting in September
New PGT students commencing their studies in September 2024 will receive their semester 1 timetable on completion of enrolment and, where applicable, module selection options. Semester 2 timetables will be published on 11 December 2024.
New PGT students starting in January/February
PGT students commencing their studies in early 2025 will receive their semester 2 timetable on completion of enrolment and, where applicable, module selection options.
Programmes with early start dates
Students on programmes with early start dates, e.g. Institute of Education PGCE programmes, will receive their semester 1 timetable on 21 August 2024 and their semester 2 timetable on 11 December 2024.
The UoR student app is the easiest way to access a live version of your timetable on the go.
Semester 1 commences on 30 September 2024.
Teaching will run from 30 September until 20 December 2024.
November
Degree classifications for finalists are formally published following the University Awarding Board. Marks for finalists are published on at the same time.

Your exam timetable will be published in December, no later than the end of week 12 of semester 1. We recommend adding your exams to your university calendar, so you can view them in the app with your teaching timetable.

Winter vacation will run from 23 December 2024 until 17 January 2025.

The semester 1 assessment period will run from 20 January until 7 February 2025. Exams will only be scheduled during the assessment period. You may complete other types of assessment at other times in the semester.

In February, we open applications for new STAR mentors. STAR mentors are returning students who volunteer to buddy with new students during their transition to University life.
Being a STAR mentor is a very rewarding way of making friends, gaining voluntary experience and helping others along the way.

If you do not pass a module on your first attempt, you will be contacted about your options to undertake a resit exam or assessment.
For students who need to resit after results have been released in September/November 2024, all resits will take place in the semester 2 assessment period 26 May to 13 June 2025 inclusive.
For students who need to resit after results have been released in June/July 2025, all resits will take place in the August assessment period 22 August to 5 September 2025 inclusive.
