Biography
John Jack is a Senior Technician in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼’s Technical Services Directorate. He joined the Council in January 2023 as the Professional Services representative. He believes that Universities are crucial for ongoing creation and dissemination of much needed knowledge and understanding, and that Professional Services are essential for successful delivery of the research and teaching required to achieve this.
John is strongly motivated by an insatiable curiosity and an irresistible compulsion to understand the world. He has a BSc (Geology), an MPhil (Remote Sensing), and a BA (Architecture). His current focus of interest is digital 3D solid modelling and 3D printing.
John joined the University in 1990. His roles have focussed on the operational management and development of technical units and training and supervision of students – initially related to human and environmental sciences, but, since 2016, to architecture and IOE art.
John is an HEA Fellow and a reviewer on the University’s FLAIR CPD Scheme. Currently he has a project management role with a focus on Professional Registration of technical staff.
From 2018 to 2022, John was a University Staff Forum representative. He co-chaired the Forum from January 2021, and chaired it from September 2022.
