This module aims to develop and enhance key skills in oral presentation and the ability critically and reflectively to discuss the research process and experience and the methodologies adopted.

This module aims to develop and enhance key skills in oral presentation and the ability critically and reflectively to discuss the research process and experience and the methodologies adopted.
Assessable learning outcomes:
After completing the module, students will:
- Be able to plan and deliver a cogent presentation discussing the research process and experience;
- Be able to demonstrate good oral presentation skills and the appropriate use of visual aids;
- Demonstrate an ability to discuss and reflect critically upon the research process and methodological issues;
- Demonstrate depth of knowledge and critical reasoning in their area of research;
- Be able torespond accurately to questions arising from their presentation.
Additional outcomes:
This module will also encourage the development of independent learning, as well as knowledge transfer and dissemination skills and personal responsibility.
Outline content:
Students will produce a research poster reflecting aspects of the process and experience of researching their dissertation and their key findings. They will also give a 20 minute assessed presentation discussing how they researched their dissertation, the methods and methodology used, any difficulties encountered and reflecting on the research experience.
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Teaching and learning is primarily in the form of regular supervision, supplemented by classes according to student interest and staff availability.

Summative assessment- Coursework and in-class tests:
- 40% research poster reflecting aspects of the process and experience of researching the dissertation and key findings.
- 60% 20 minute presentation on the process and experience of researching the dissertation.

Penalties for late submission:

The Support Centres will apply the following penalties for work submitted late:
- where the piece of work is submitted after the original deadline (or any formally agreed extension to the deadline): 10% of the total marks available for that piece of work will be deducted from the mark for each working day (or part thereof) following the deadline up to a total of five working days;
- where the piece of work is submitted more than five working days after the original deadline (or any formally agreed extension to the deadline): a mark of zero will be recorded.
You are strongly advised to ensure that coursework is submitted by the relevant deadline. You should note that it is advisable to submit work in an unfinished state rather than to fail to submit any work.
Assessment requirements for a pass:
50% overall
Reassessment arrangements:
As for the original assessment, but a mark in a passed element can be carried forward.
