This moduleforms part of thePGDipLeadership(Senior Leader Apprenticeship) programme and,as such, sets out to provide the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by senior leaders in today’s world.The module builds on the foundational knowledge covered in previous modules to recognise how leadership supports the development of future ways of working. In this moduletheleadershipchallenges ofsetting strategic direction,includingvision & purposeof an organisation. This includesanalysing external environmentand the impact of organisational structures & marketing strategies.

The moduleaims to:
Develop the capability of individuals to plan, manage and reflect on their practical leadership skills intheorganisation.
Encourage development of behavioural skills in individuals to increase the effectiveness of their leadership.
Review knowledge of strategic leadership modelswithin organisational structures and across supply chains.
Develop awareness of programme management, risk assessment and mitigating actions.
Recognise the importance of developing leadership capability within an organisational setting.

The module covers the following topics:
Organisational structures
Leading across the matrix organisation and supply chains.
Managing risk
Strategic thinking – Understanding markets, workforce planning, systems thinking and data management.
Global context:
The module is taught with reference totheglobalcontextof the learners’organisationsandtheirexperiences.
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Teaching and learning takes place through a blended learning approach. The teaching and learning methods comprise a combination of self-study via a range of online materials on the Canvas learning platform, face-to-face workshops with Faculty and a Learning Coach,who supports the cohort throughoutthe module.The learnersfollow aninquiry basedapproach, andeachpersonparticipates in afacilitatedAction Learning set of approxim ately6 -8 learnersin week 6 of themodule.
Materials on Canvas include content on-screen, videos, PowerPoint presentations, journal articles, book chapters,practicalactivitiesand reflection points.
