Summary module description:
FINTECH course focuses on a set of financial technologies that automate, enhance and improve financial services and processes of organisations. The module contextualises the application of FINTECH within corporate settings across the world, and discusses their use, impact and effectiveness within European context.
Aims:
- To develop an awareness of FINTECH tools and technologies and their impact
- To review the importance of FINTECH to organisations in the different industries
- To analyse and discuss implementations of FINTECH through real-life case contexts
Intended learning outcomes:
- Understand what Fintech is and its impact on the finance and technology industries
- Evaluate the main technologies driving Fintech
- Understand and evaluate key Fintech solutions and firms
- Understand the operating and regulatory environments for Fintech firms
- Understand and evaluate the strategies of major Fintech firms
- Understand and evaluate the strategies of Fintech start-ups
Assessable learning outcomes:
- Identify and discuss the impact of Fintech on your own organisation
- Analyse and discuss the likely impact of Fintech trends for the future

Outline content:
- Session 1 – Introduction to Fintech
- Session 2 – Payments, Cryptocurrencies, Finance
- Session 3 – The Power of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence
- Session 4 – The Fintech Operating Environment
- Session 5 – Fintech Today and in the Future
Global context:
Although the course is targeted at working professionals and discussed within an European context, the genesis, development and emergence of fintech solutions, applications and firms are discussed within an international context
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
The primary learning transmission will be through self-study.Ìý Participants will receive learning materials online, which will consist of a study guide, an on-line simulation tool and a summary slide set.Ìý An assignment brief will also be provided.

The assessment consists of an individual written assignment of approximately 3,500 words.

Reassessment arrangements:
Reassessment by 100% assignment (capped at 50%); to be submitted within 6 weeks of notification of module failure, date dependent on cohort entry and to be advised by the Programme Administrator.
