Summary module description:

This module enables students to explore the concepts of strategic planning and strategic (or ‘capital’) budgeting. It introduces a range of techniques for strategic budgeting. It illustrates concepts using topical, real-world events and cases.Ìý


Aims:

This module aims to introduce students to key concepts connected with strategic planning and budgeting; to introduce capital budgeting techniques; to consider risk in strategic planning and budgeting; and to consider modelling in practice.Ìý


Assessable learning outcomes:

By the end of the module it is expected that students will be able to:Ìý




  • Understand the purpose and benefits of strategic planning and budgeting, as well as their limitationsÌý

  • Understand some techniques associated with strategic (or capital) budgetingÌý

  • Understand good practice with respect to Excel spreadsheet modelsÌý
