This module aims to enable students to study for a term or semester in a University in the United States, Europe, Australia or Japan.

This module aims to enable students to study for a term or semester in a University in the United States, Europe, Australia or Japan.


Assessable learning outcomes:
These will be in accordance with the host institution.

Additional outcomes:
By the end of the module it is expected that the student will have studied a number of courses in another department in their chosen host university. The module also aims to encourage students to be more self-reliant and to give them an opportunity to broaden their education through travelling and studying abroad and to experience the life and culture of another country.

Outline content:
Students will choose one from a range of partner universities; they will normally study for one semester or for one term if this is appropriate and depending upon provision by the host university.

Assessment requirements for a pass:
A mark of 40% overall.
Students will bring the marks back with them from their host university. After translation in accordance with the agreed formula the marks will be the basis for the assessment of 1, 2 or 3 modules which would have been taken in the term in question at Reading and incorporated into their record.

Reassessment arrangements:
In the case of students of the University who are undertaking a period of study abroad and who fail an assessment set by the host institution abroad, re-assessment arrangements need to be determined on a case-by-case basis. The School Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for proposing the form of assessment and the Faculty Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for approving the form of assessment. This will vary for each student depending on his/her final choice of courses, on the institution and on the country.
