To provide fundamental principles and skills of quantification for infrastructure and civil engineering works based on CESMM4 and MyCESMM as well as to allow for computer-aided quantification.Ìý
Assessable learning outcomes:
- Understand the fundamental principles of CESMM4 and MyCESMM;
- Appreciate class structures and preambles of CESMM4 and MyCESMM;
- Demonstrate general principles of quantification based on CESMM4 and MyCESMM
- Quantify the different elements of infrastructure and civil engineering works based on CESMM4 andÌýMyCESMM
- Produce Bills of Quantities based on the measured elements of infrastructure and civil engineering works
Additional outcomes:
Students should be able to work independently or within a team and present the outcome of their work to course staff and other members of the class

- Fundamental principles of CESMM4 and MyCESMM
- Class structures and preambles
- General principles of quantification of infrastructure and civil engineering works
- Quantification of:
- Earthworks
- Piling Works
- Pipeworks
- Drainage Work
- Roads and Pavings
- Rail Tracks
- Production of Bills of Quantities
Global context:
In order to localised the module content to suit the local practice in Malaysia, MyCESMM will also be used as the main reference for the module where students will need to know its fundamental, usages as well as its application to the quantification for infrastructure and civil engineering works
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Lecturers will be delivered on fundamental principles, introductory topics as well some general techniques on quantification. Details techniques including the usages of CESMM4 and MyCESMM will be covered by supervised time in studio where students will be provided with project tasks depending on the weekly topic to enable them to apply the knowledge into practice. After completion, model answers will be provided for each project tasks which will then be discussed for the purpose of provision of feedback.

Summative assessment- Coursework and in-class tests:
30% written assignment including essay is made of quantification assessment of a selected topic.
70% in-class test is made of quantification assessment of a selected topic that students are required to complete within 2 hours.

Assessment requirements for a pass:
A mark of 40% overall
Reassessment arrangements:
If student fails the assessment, student will be required to carry out a written assignment including essay of a selected topic.
