INTRODUCTION:
Investigating accidents is a vital tool in understanding what caused an accident, identifying improvements, and preventing future accidents. The ability to observe and question is key to identifying the root causes. This course will help you investigate accidents fully with a view to saving future injuries, lost time and financial costs.
AIMS:
To give the delegates the tools and methodologies to effectively investigate an accident, incident or near miss.
OBJECTIVES - ON RETURNING TO THE WORK PLACE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Confidently investigate an accident, incident or near miss and produce a report that leads to preventative measures.
- To gain sufficient understanding of industry best practice tools and methods to allow the attendee to investigate in accordance with UoR Safety Code of Practice 9.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Health & Safety Co-ordinators and anyone who needs to review accidents and record the outcomes of an investigation.
PRE-COURSE PREPARATION:
Bring a copy of an accident, incident or near miss from their department.
