Tuition fee schedule
The calculation of your tuition fee is based upon:
- the programme you are following
- your mode of attendance (full- or part-time)
- your fee status (Home or Overseas)
The Tuition Fees apply to full time students and are pro-rated accordingly for part-time students.

You may pay your Tuition Fees to the University in two instalments if all of the following conditions apply:
• You are charged the full amount of the Tuition Fee at the start of your Programme (i.e. you are not billed by module); and
• the amount of the Tuition Fees owed at enrolment is greater than £2,000 per year; and your Programme runs for longer than 10 weeks.
If this applies to you, the instalments must be paid as follows:
• First instalment 50% (of the fees you are liable for) - Before or at registration at the latest.
• Second instalment 50% (of the fees you are liable for) - The first day of week 13 of semester 1.
If you are self-funding you must pay the required fees before or on the day of registration.
The tuition fees are payable in two instalments (50% if the total fee is £2000 or above – below £2000 must be paid in full)
- 50% (of the fees you are liable for) before or on the day of registration.
- 50% (of the fees you are liable for) in:
> January if you start in September
> April if you start in January
You must pay your Tuition Fees in full at or before registration unless the following applies to you:
• You are receiving a loan from one of the Student Finance Authorities
• You have provided evidence of sponsorship from an approved sponsor
• You are eligible to pay the tuition fees in instalments (please see below)
• Alternative payment arrangements are set out in your Offer Letter.
• If you pay by module, you must pay the relevant module fee before or at registration
If you are taking a tuition fee loan, you need to make sure you have applied before your course starts and also note that you need to make a loan application after each year of study for the following academic year. If you do not do this, you may be personally liable for payment of the fees.
If you are from a Channel Island or the Isle of Man you'll need to seek guidance with your island education offices.

If you have been approved a postgraduate tuition fee loan from Student Finance your tuition fees are payable in 3 instalments:

If you default on payment, you are at risk of suspension.
If your tuition fee loan is not approved by registration you will need to contact credit control to set up a payment plan of 3 instalments.
Fees for research students depend on whether you are a UK, EU or international student, and differ across disciplines.
The tuition fees are payable in two instalments (50% if the total fee is £2000 or above – below £2000 must be paid in full)
• 50% paid by you before or on the day of registration, it is your choice which payment method you use for the first instalment.
• 50% on the first day of week 13 of semester 1.
If you are receiving a Postgraduate Government loan tuition fees are payable in three instalments:
• 33% on the 25/09/2024
• 33% on the 20/01/2025
• 34% on the 23/04/2025
Overtime (writing up) fees cannot be paid in instalments (Any fee under £2000 must be paid in full.)

Current Students:
Tuition fees for most students are fixed for the duration of their degree. The main exception to this is for Home PhD students. If you are a returning student you can find out your fees via the Financial Statement on your RISIS Portal.
The Student Fees team at the University can give you help and advice about paying your tuition fees.
