The Thrive Mentoring Scheme
Thrive is an extracurricular programme which gives you the opportunity to develop a professional mentoring partnership with a second year or final year undergraduate, or with one of our taught postgraduates. Those who volunteer their time are interested in the development of our students. The scheme operates throughout each academic year, with partnerships typically lasting for a few hours per month for a 3 - 9 month period, with some partnerships running for 8 months. Training is given to mentors and mentees prior to partnerships starting and partnerships are mentee led.
Thrive Programme timeline
Mentor applications open from June onwards for the next scheme
Mentors then receive training from scheme manager to cover mentoring and the Thrive platform
Mentors create their account on our Thrive system after attending training
Students then choose their mentor on the Thrive platform (after completing training)
Partnerships then begin
Mentoring partnerships then end officially at the end of June of each scheme year (partnerships can continue outside of the programme if mentor and mentee wish to do this).
Mentors can then complete the mentor evaluation survey to share their experience of the programme and any feedback (completed when partnerships finish).

Benefits to students
When taking part in Thrive, our students may be looking to create and clarify their career goals or explore them in more depth through exposure to the workplace. The support offered by a mentor can make a significant difference to the success of their transition into graduate roles, boost their motivation and build resilience whilst making challenging decisions.
