MS Teams Meetings vs Live Events

Meetings Live Events
Audience interaction and collaboration

High level of interaction and collaboration:

Attendees can turn on cameras and microphones.

Interaction by attendees is limited to a Q and A.

This is managed by a moderator who can publish or dismiss incoming questions.

Audience reach Maximum participants = 1000 Up to 20,000 attendees can watch
Roles Organisers, presenters and attendees.

Organisers, presenters and attendees as in meetings.

In Teams Live Events, there is an extra "Producer" role. The producer lines up the content and presenters and manages the whole event. There can be more than one producer doing different roles.

This role requires training but we can provide that for you.

Chat function Chat is possible between all kinds of participants Chat is possible between the organisers and presenters but not between attendees.
Breakout Rooms Available. Attendees can be split out into breakout rooms for closer collaboration Breakout rooms are not available in Live Events.
Presenters As multiple cameras are allowed more than one presenter can be seen at the same time. Only one presenter can be seen on screen at one time.
Recording The recording can be made available to University members and named individuals. The recording can be made available to the public.
Content In both scenarios presenters can share their content easily.

To summarise, if you want to simulate a lecture-style presentation with a moderated Q and A then go for a Teams Live Event, but if you want an interactive event where all participants can freely communicate then go for a Teams Meeting.

A Teams Webinar is the same as a Teams Meeting however it has a registration page function for interested attendees.
